Already One Year with the BMW C Evolution ! => 20/06/2014 - 20/06/2015

20/06/2014 - 20/06/2015 : 11,500 km of mostly commuting + few trips to Paris & nearby suburbs
Yes, already, it's been a full year of joy riding my BMW C Evolution, purchased from the BMW Motorrad dealer in Boulogne - 2nd unit -

I remember very well, test riding it, being amazed by its amazing torque & power, ordering it almost right after, waiting for almost two months and finally getting it on June 20, 2014 :)



Overall, it is an awesome machine, as I already wrote in this blog, dispite 2 software bugs, one fixed by BMW, the other one, more recent, never occured again



I experienced 0 mechanical problem, and the tires are still fine, even if the rear one is supporting heavy accelerations every day



For a first electric scooter, I think BMW did a pretty good job with a quality & good looking product which is the reference in this field now - maybe for a long time -

Yes, it is expensive at 15,400 EUR, but I can tell you that it is worth every cent, and once you turn the throttle and feel this kick, you forget about it right away ;) !!

Eco pouce - Electric Cabs in Boulogne and Paris

I already wrote a post on this new Electric cab service created in Boulogne, composed of 9 Mia Electric. You call them up and they will take you anywhere in Boulogne for a flat rate of 4 or 5 EUR I think and to all the other cities surrounding Boulogne, which includes Paris, Saint Cloud, Issy, etc for an additional 1EUR per kilometer ...

Clean local transportation is starting !

Coming back from work this week I saw one and followed it a bit to be able to take some pictures

Ecopouce - Electric Transport with the Mia

Seen this week in the local newspaper, Ecopouce - you could translate by Eco Thumb - is a new small company providing local transportation using 8 Mia Electric small cars

A fixed rate of 4.90 EUR within the city of Boulogne, and 1 EUR / minute to go to any city touching Boulogne: Paris, Saint Cloud, Sèvres, Meudon, Neuilly, Suresnes, Issy Les Moulineaux

Good luck to this new fully Electric Transport Company !

Heat pumps on walls, balconies, roofs, and chimney stacks in Marseille

I have a Daikin Heat Pump installed on one unused chimney stack on our building and it has been working well since 2008

I thought it was a rare installation, but not at all, as I discovered many like these in Marseille, during my last week of vacation there; It is in the south of France where the climate is warmer, so I guess most of them are actually air conditoning units

What a coincidence ! This morning, as I exit my parking, another Vectrix slows down and to help me merge in traffic ... Nice ;-) Later at the next stop, he gives me a "V" sign with his fingers, I guess it is the Vectrix riders sign (?, you learn every day), I said hi and told him I had not seen any Vectrix for a while ...
We rode all the way from Boulogne to Neuilly, through the Bois de Boulogne, then I lost him ... Too fast :-)

Twizy in the Snow

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow !

Quite a bit of snow here and some on & inside our neighborhood Twizy ... The owner had installed the plastic windows - good idea - but my son told me there was some snow inside still :-(  

No heater in the Twizy by the way, you have to be motivated to take it in this kind of weather, but it might be very fun to see how it drives and slides on these snowy streets !

Winter is here for sure and it has been snowing all night here in Boulogne - Paris, France - and I had to take my son to his karate competition on sunday morning ... All the streets were white and empty ...
For the first time I drove the LEAF in the snow and I must say that the handling is very good, with traction control and ABS, it is really hard to make it slide

Karate competition cancelled, of course, only locals could come, so we headed back home and after disabling the traction control (lower left button ESP OFF), we had a little bit of fun on the snow with the electric motor torque, the front wheels are very quicly spinning fast and the whole car slowly drifts sideways; I had to be carefull not to break my - expensive - toy ...
