The End of Vectrix - Liquidation Sale after Bankruptcy :-(

This time it looks like it is really over for Vectrix :-(

After filing bankruptcy few weeks ago, the second time in this history of the brand, Vectrix is really going down and a liquidation sale is scheduled for June in New Bedford

The American company released their famous NiMH powered battery maxi scooter back in 2006, a machine with 'No Compromise', built with top of the line quality components:
- Marzocchi fork
- Brembo brakes
- Sachs shocks
- German planetary gear set
- 20kW AC Motor
- 4.7kWh NiMH Battery Pack
- Specific Aluminum Chassis

In 2009, Gold Peak or GP, the  Hong Kong based famous Battery maker, injected 5 Million in Vectrix to wipe of 3 Millions of debts and carry on 
They continued production, and a plant was built in Poland for the European market
Then they started the Li and Li+ version, with a new Lithium ion battery pack ...

In 2012, after hearing about brand new Lithium factory made VX-1 having battery pack problems after few months, I wrote this post about LiFePO4 Battery Charging, hoping some Vectrix engineer would read it and change the way they handle Lithium cells

Somebody could have taken over Vectrix again, and I was thinking of Renault, or Nissan, with AESC / LEAF Battery Modules that fit perfectly and require almost no change to the existing scooter ! But I guess they do not even know about it, although I talk a bout it to somebody at Renault about this possibility

So, now it is the end, and it is a shame and a waste, because it was a great machine, and this failure has been caused by the lack of knowledge on LiFePO4 charging method and management, which is so simple in the end ... I wrote a lot on this already and proved that it works over several years now ...

A French guy is converting his Vectrix using LEAF Battery Modules

Last night I received an email from a thread update on a French Vectrix forum on Lithium conversions, and noticed that a guy is starting a conversion using LEAF modules !



The good news it that it is a perfect fit (!) for these modules, 19 of them, which leads to 144V hooked in series, the original voltage of the NiMH pack ....

These modules are getting more and more popular and are starting to be available from different places, were cited yesterday too in EVtv where Jack Rickard received 72 Renault Fluence battery packs from the Better Place liquidation in Israel, made of 48 modules like in the LEAF, for 24kWh ... and priced at 3,600USD this week: "Lithium at the price of Lead" (!)

Global Nissan LEAF Sales Zip Past 75,000

As you’re reading this, sales of the Nissan LEAF are whizzing past 75,000 units globally.

Nissan has yet to shoot out an official announcement on this milestone achievement, but we know it to be the case that LEAF sales now exceed 75,000.

75,000 and counting, of course.

As part of Nissan 360 (a month-long showcase of the latest breakthroughs in vehicle technology, sustainability and market expansion), the automaker will “re-emphasize its ambitions in zero-emission vehicles, where it is the global market leader thanks to the LEAF, the best-selling electric vehicle in history,” says Nissan.

How successful is the Nissan LEAF? To date, Nissan has sold more LEAFs than all other pure electric vehicle combined. How’s that for success?

New Electric presents EVTV Amsterdam Warehouse and NedCraft Conversion

News from Amsterdam with Anne Kloppenborg from New Electric :

New Electric and EVTV Motor Verks have teamed up to form the EVTV Amsterdam Warehouse. Through our wh.newelectric.nl warehouse webshop we can now serve the EU conversion army with all the EV parts goodness that EVTV has on offer.
In the meanwhile we're putting the parts to good use in the conversion of the NedCraft Silverback for our customer Admiraal Hein.
Exciting times for the team from Amsterdam, and while in the spotlight we decide to do wats right and incorperate!
