First Fast Charge in Details at Ikea using a CHAdeMO Charging Station

Welcome to IKEA Vélizy ...

I see Green paint on the ground ...

Here it is: the CHAdeMO charging station is next to an Autolib charging station

This is DBT CEV DC & AC Charging Station

CHAdeMO side

The previous charge information is still displayed on the screen: 80%, 31mn, 14.8kWh

RFid activation badge required ?

Yazaki CHAdeMO Connector : DC 500V, 120A, CE, TUV

I know I do not need to charge, but I really wanted to try DC Fast Charge for the first time

Plugged in !

Charging Station is synchronizing with the vehicle

Red light on top of the CHAdeMO connector and I heard contactors close in the Charging Station and in the LEAF

Charging ...

Charging in process

What is interesting is that the screen displays Volts & Amps : 394Vx 26A = 10,244W , 10kW pushed into the LEAF; since the battery pack state of charge is above 80%, the charge rate is decreased to preserve the cells life

2 minutes later: 393V x 23A = 9,039W , 9kW, going down

After 7mn of charge: 393V x 21A = 8,253W , 8kW

At 9mn: 393V x 17A = 6,681W , 6.7kW

Pressing the Stop Charge button, I then decided to terminate the process because it was starting to rain, and I had seen enough

Charge summary: SOC 95%, 9mn, 1.9kWh

Contactor open, Red light is Off, I can now disconnect the Yazaki handle

1 bar on the Energy Level, which is equivalent to 2kWh (12 bars for 24kWh)

No heat on the Temperature gage

Bye IKEA, and Thanks for the free Charge !

On my way back to Boulogne, there was this Mitsubishi i-MiEV / Peugeot iOn

DIY ESS - Watching the End of Charge Remotely with Karotz

After charging last night for several hours during off-peak hours, this morning I turned on the ESS and it went to GTI Mode during shower and breakfast

When I left home for work, and switched it to Forced Charge Mode and placed Karotz - rabbit webcam - in front of the voltmeter

The battery pack voltage climbed nicely all morning ...

until it reached the programmed charge voltage limit of 28V (3.5V per cell times 8 cells), as you can see the upper left red is ON, meaning the voltmeter relay opened and the Charge Contactor opened as well, and all the chargers stop

As a result, the pack voltage drops slowly to 26.6V (3.32V per cell times 8 cells), which is normal ...

After and hour or so, I still have the same pack voltage of 26.6V and it does not seem to move anymore at this point

Tonight, full discharge of the ESS battery pack in GTI Mode - Normal Automatic Mode -

LEAF Link Update - Sending Destination Data to the car

So the bit I missed last saturday to retrieve the destination sent from the LEAF Link App to the car is this:

It is was easier than I thought, so this tuesday, going out to Paris (again), I tried it: CARWINGS > Favorites > LEAF Link
A voice tells you it is connecting to the information server and few seconds after the destination is spoken to you, then you can set up the itinerary to get there using the regular onboard GPS

After a very good diner @ Brasserie LIPP with a good Italian friend of my wife coming from New York

And then a little "Paris by night" drive around and the LEAF Link App tells me that I can go home without any problems ...

Great News for LEAF owners - LEAF Link - new iPhone app for CARWINGS

A LEAF owner and talented developer has been working on his own app to enhance the CARWINGS app provided by Nissan with the LEAF

A more intuitive and user friendly interface will be the key to its success but also news features like trip planning via your iPhone and then sending the route data to the LEAF GPS system, or charge program modification from your iPhone, etc

It has been submitted to the Apple Store and is waiting for approval now :-)
I can not wait to try it ...
