My Tesla Paris Model S Test Drive

After two visits at the Tesla Store Paris, I finally test drove a Tesla Model S yesterday, with my son :-)

Part city and part freeway, under the rain with heavy traffic, Traction Control put to use few times while accelerating hard on the wet road

I must admit this car is probably the most powerful I have ever driven, it is an amazing feeling to feel pushed like this in a sporty / luxurious interior ...

Second Visit to Tesla Store Paris

Yesterday, instead of going to Paris directly, we first went to the Tesla Store in Gennevilliers, next to Paris, to see what was going on, what was new

- Chassis on display
- New P85+ dark blue
- Rear child seats test
- Test drive booked in 2 weeks

Arriving, 2 test drive Model S were parked outside, waiting

The first new thing in the showroom is the Chassis on display, very interesting, so took many close ups to see technical details

The AC Motor is huge !

Tesla Serial number on the AC Motor

A view in the shop from the little window in the showroom and a Model S on the lift, plus many recently delivered ones on the right, with new plates, etc

Also the black Model S has been replaced by a dark blue P85+, very nice

and it is charging

using the regular EVSE and plugged into a regular 220V outlet, next to an iMac

My son Clément loves to be in the driver's seat and tests everything on the huge screen, including opening the roof, the trunk, etc

and this time we tried out the rear child seats, that are folded in the back of the trunk

Very well designed mechanism

At 12 years old, he is a bit to tall to fit, but he managed to shut the seatbelt

and we closed the trunk :-)

We then talked to a new saleswoman, and booked a test drive in two weeks ...

Tesla Paris - Closed for renovation or moved ?

Riding my Vectrix through Paris, I thought I would pass by the Tesla Store, Avenue Kléber, but when I got there I thought they moved somewhere else, or maybe they are simply doing some renovation: the store was not that big last time I went there and is maybe being redesigned ... We'll see ...

No more information from the official Tesla website

Tesla receives respite as judge dismisses dealers' lawsuit

Association contemplating seeking appeal

Electric carmaker Tesla has received some respite as a county judge turned down a dealer association's plea to stop the automaker from selling cars directly from a showroom in Massachusetts (US), reports Automotive News. In a ruling, Norfolk County Superior Court Judge Kenneth Fishman said the Massachusetts State Automobile Dealers Association and other plaintiffs lacked standing to sue. Incidentally, it is the same ground on which a previous injunction was denied in November against the company operating a Boston store. The association has expressed dissatisfaction on the decision but has not stated whether it would seek an appeal, for which it has a 30-day time limit.

Significance: In most US states, car dealers have successfully lobbied for laws that prevent OEMs from opening company-owned dealerships. This law rests on the reasoning that company-owned dealerships skew the level playing field and could compete unfairly with independent dealers. Tesla, on the other hand, has no franchised dealers of traditional business nature so far and claims that pursuing the established practice of independent dealers selling electric cars is unlikely to boost sales of new technology vehicles, which count high prices and limited electric range among some of the drawbacks compared to traditional gasoline cars. While Tesla is unlikely to present a serious challenge to the traditional franchise model, dealers are wary that allowing Tesla to operate company-owned showrooms could set a precedent.

New Tesla Store in Portland, OR

"‎Tesla Motors has opened a store at Washington Square Mall. They have the Tesla Model S on display. You can touch it, sit in, and play with the big 17" MultiTouch Display."

Just like an Apple Store, it is in the middle of a mall
